IntriCut: The paper work of Aoyama Hina
Friend, Gretchin Lair, twittered an excited alert to me about the hand-cut paper artist above. I believe her exact words were, “Holy cow!” I have to agree. I couldn’t imagine these intricate pieces were cut from paper by hand until I read about her passion closely from Aoyama Hina’s site:
They are super fine lacy-paper-cuttings done by a simple pair of scissors.
My passion is to create a finest cutoff beyond the level of the very time-consuming needle lace making.
I don’t follow traditional but I am trying to create a mixture of the traditional and modern styles and to produce my own world through this super fine lacy-paper-cuttings technique.
Exotic Japanese born, lovely France living, Aoyama Hina, makes many fine paper cut illustration pieces but the ones I responded to the most were from a set she calls “Sentences”
Your eyes are telling the truth, Madame Hina uses a small scissor, by hand, as seen above crafting/creating one of her illustrative works. More photos from her My Space page.

This is amazing! I would have assumed it was a laser cut but hand done with scissors tht’s a super human talent! She must have the patience of a saint and the eyesight of an eagle.

I still can’t believe what she does. I couldn’t get those curves with scissors once, let alone thousands of times on the same piece!

Hi Everyone, I believe that the woman is in fact hand cutting these works. I agree it’s mind-boggling to consider that anyone could do it.
And I’m sorry I don’t know the font she followed or even whether she did. She may be as talented a calligrapher as she is a steady hand!
Thanks to all who visit Jaime Zollar’s Paper Forest and who comment as well. So fun and encouraging.
